To explore the possibility of collaborative practice between fashion and sound, I developed an interactive wearable piece with knitted stretch-responsive sensors embedded in it. The piece triggers sound through intuitive body movements. This project aims to build deep emotional, intimate and soft connection between body and sound through textiles, which is considered as the most intimate material we interact with daily. Different directions of stretchiness were created in knitting structures due to the need on different body parts. A granular synth was built using Pure Data. The prototype includes a snap switch to control the overall sound track and sensors on each elbow that adjust grain length and grain position.
