Audio drama performance / 15 min
You look around, as you see shiny, wet grass illuminated in the sunlight in front of you. It glows as if it was freshly coated with a layer of maple syrup, presenting itself like in a commercial to promote the tastiest delicacy you can imagine. Even though it seems too good to be true, as you bend your head down to the floor and the fresh smell of wet grass crawls up your nose, you know it is real. Ripping a big chunk out of the grass out with your strong teeth, the sun rays gently caress you with a warm and soft touch on your skin. You believe now, this must be the best grass you ever tasted.
In animal agriculture, non-human animals are in close contact with humans every day. The human actions though reveal the interruption of emotional connection with the non-human animals and relationship building seems to be consciously avoided or even perverted.
So, how can we reconnect ourselves again with other species?
Dipping into the senses of a non-human animal, you’re invited to explore your surroundings and how they make you feel in your imagination. In an experimental audio drama performance, you can travel through a fictional but realistic day from an animal’s perspective. With methods of storytelling, meditation, combined with scientific research we will go on a journey where we will discover another way of reading the world surrounding us.
The story is one exemplary part of the “make your own animal” adventure. In this multi-species collaborative game, you’re invited by other beings to get to know each other playfully. Players are guided through getting in contact with other animals respectfully and discover things about them, we could have barely imagined before. The research is the soil for then creating your own adventure story, which you can write in a similar style like a journal, from the perspective of the animal.
